There’s One More Surprising Avengers: Infinity War Cameo

With Avengers: Infinity War‘s home release, we’re learning a whole lot more about the film–including cameos–thanks to the special features included with the film. In addition to a cut scene featuring Jon Favreau reprising his role as Happy Hogan, it was revealed that an actor knighted by the Queen of England in 2012 opens up the movie.

Thor director Sir Kenneth Branagh, who most recently starred in Murder on the Orient Express and Dunkirk, did some voice over which plays during the Marvel logo, right before Thanos and company takes on Thor and the Asgardians. “This was an amazing surprise, by the way, and we had this idea very late in editorial, to ask the amazing Sir Kenneth Branagh to come in and do the opening distress call over the logo, that carries us and sets the stage and carries us into the scene with Thor and Thanos and Loki on the Ark,” explained director Joe Russo during the audio commentary for the movie.

This wasn’t a moment that was long planned though. During an interview with ET, Joe Russo explained this was a last-minute decision. “That literally is one of those crazy ideas we had sitting in the edit room–I don’t know–two or three weeks before we locked picture maybe,” explained Russo. “And we’re talking about–you know–we needed a great actor to open the film that had the right gravitas to make you concerned for the Asgardians. And we went, ‘Why don’t we just ask Branagh? He’s one of the greatest actors in the world?’ Luckily, he said yes.”

Avengers: Infinity War is out digitally now but has a limited amount of special features, which includes some deleted and extended scenes, and a few featurettes about the characters and locations seen in the film.

If you want the total Infinity War experience, you’ll have to wait until August 14 for the 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD releases of the film. Including audio commentary, the physical release is stacked with extra special features, including what was released with the digital copy. These special features will give fans a ton of insight into the movie-making process, along with a few Avengers Easter eggs you might have missed.

Pokemon Go Adds New Pokemon And Research Quests

August has arrived, and with it comes a new set of Field Research tasks to complete in Pokemon Go. As Niantic previously revealed, this month’s selection of challenges revolve around Electric-type Pokemon and ultimately lead to another encounter with Raikou, but that isn’t the only rare Pokemon players can acquire through the quests.

Along with the Field Research tasks, Niantic has introduced a new Pokemon to the game: Spinda. The Spot Panda Pokemon originally debuted in the series’ third-generation installments, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, and is notable for having more than four billion possible fur patterns. However, it was one of the small handful of monsters who were skipped over when Niantic began introducing Gen 3 Pokemon to Go, making this the first chance players have to add one to their collection.

At the moment, Spinda can’t be found in the wild; rather, it’s the reward for one of this month’s Field Research challenges, meaning you’ll first need to find and complete the task in order to get your hands on the Pokemon. The challenge in question tasks players with throwing three curveballs in a row. You can collect Field Research by spinning the discs at Poke Stops.

As before, players can find and complete as many Field Research tasks as they want, but only the first one you finish a day will reward you with a stamp. Collecting seven stamps will lead to a Research Breakthrough, which in turn will unlock more rewards, including an encounter with a powerful Pokemon. This month, players who achieve a Research Breakthrough will have another chance to capture the aforementioned Legendary Pokemon, Raikou.

Pokemon Go’s next Community Day event takes place next weekend and features Eevee. Additionally, players still have a chance to capture Registeel, the latest Gen 3 Legendary to arrive in the game. It can be found in Raid Battles until August 21, when it will be replaced by Regirock.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Star Knew Playing Miles Morales Was His Destiny

While Marvel Studios may be done with new movies for the year, Sony still has a couple more coming out in the next few months. Aside from Venom, which had a new trailer this week and revealed the villain Riot, Sony’s animated movie Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will be closing out the year in December. From what we’ve seen and heard about for this film, it seems pretty awesome.

During the Sony panel at Comic-Con, we learned a bit more about the upcoming film, including that Nic Cage will be playing Spider-Man: Noir. However, during a roundtable discussion with the cast, we learned that the voice of Miles Morales, Shameik Moore, is pretty excited about the role, especially since this is the first time fans will see Miles on the big screen. “I feel blessed,” explained Moore. “I feel chosen. There’s a lot of black people, a lot of latino people, and I’m sitting in front of you… I want to be a positive role model. I think it’s a good way to start.”

What’s interesting is that this is a role Moore has wanted to play for quite some time. While he was filming Dope back in 2015, Kiersey Clemons–who played Diggy in the movie–gave him a notebook. “I wrote ‘I am Miles Morales’ and ‘I am Spider-man’ in my journal,” explained Moore. “Kiersey gave me a journal for whatever reason, and I started writing. We were really big on The Secret, The Law of Attraction, The Four Agreements, reading books and practicing that.

“We were working out at 6AM, taking however many mile runs up the street. Eating healthy. All of us in that apartment were pushing each other, growing successful actors, and so, I was just being positive and writing what I wanted in a book. Some things came to life.”

Moore’s positivity and dedication paid off when he was given the role of Miles Morales. Spider-fans will get to see Moore in his dream role when Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse comes to theaters in the US on December 14.
